Model Thanksgiving Prayer

As with all prayers, a person should start by stating that they are coming to God the Father in the name of Jesus, their Lord and Savior. This insures that the prayer is heard by God (John 16:23).

Next is a statement of gratitude for all the blessings received over the past year. One might name a few of the greater blessings such as weddings, births, recoveries from major health issues, etc. 

THE PRAYER 

"Father, we come to you in the name of Jesus, who is the Lord and Savior of the world. We thank You for all the blessings You have given us this year, and throughout the past years. We thank You for keeping us safe and bringing us together today in fellowship and love. We pray for those who could not be here with us today. We also pray for those who have gone on to be with You. We will always remember and love them.

We thank you for this opportunity to once again gather with family and friends in gratitude for all you have given us over the years.

We also thank you for the hands that have lovingly prepared this extraordinary Thanksgiving meal.

We pray that You continue to keep us safe in the coming New Year, and look forward to the many exciting plans you have prepared for us.

We thank You in the name of Jesus.
